How to put your writing in front of a new market in the eBook format
“Lovers of print are simply confusing the plate for the food.”
― Douglas Adams
Leaving Money on the Table
In years of creative and business experience I have found myself sometimes leaving money on the table. Usually by failing to see possibilities or take new action.
This reality has me looking at the library of my authorship with new eyes.
Up until now it has been exclusive to Medium, but changes do come, humans tweak things and income invariably slides south.
However, we are not powerless and the first step in taking new actions may be to assign the proper value to our creative product.
“The secret to success is no secret. Be honest in your words, be trustworthy and share value. Most people won’t tell the difference, but those that do are your readers.” ― Robin Sacredfire
Being meticulous when creating our file system can make it fairly easy to multi-propose content to other media platforms.
My practice is to name folders just like each article and also save copies on a separate hard drive.
All the text is saved in a Word Document and the pictures are placed in the folder as well.
This habit makes it very easy to copy and paste creative content already produced to a new platform, blog, website, eBook or audio-book.
The folder names can also help me keep track of other details as well, like if narration is needed or not and more.
Our words, we take the time to write down or type, will live far longer than our human compositions.
Today, how often do we refer to texts written decades or even centuries ago?
The message here may be, if you want to be remembered, write.
If you don’t, go ahead and be comfortable while watching some more TV.
“You don’t see people getting pulled over by the police for reading ebooks on their smartphones.” ― Jason Merkoski
My Bucket List
A book project has been on my bucket list for some time now. Things appear there and some get checked off very quickly, others take a bit more time.
It depends on how something resonates with me I guess, or what resources may be there when the wish shows up.
An eBook has been listed for a few years, but I’ve never had the content before.
That has changed now.
On top of that, Robert Kiyosaki started showing up talking about creating eBooks to start residual income.
Over and over I kept seeing his message.
I’ve read his books and listened to his podcasts, he has my ear for sure.
“What’s cheaper than a gallon of gas? An eBook. Save a dollar, stay home and read!” ― Shandy L. Kurth
Kind of a No-Brainer
I decided to dive in.
Still my brain tried to push doubt in and stop me. “Articles are not long enough for a book,” it said. Still I pushed on.
Robert had talked me into attending an online meeting about creating eBooks. I already had all the software and over 200 articles on the hard drives.
As is my practice, I try to ask the right questions in front of a new project.
Instead of “why can’t I?” I ask “how can I?”
It occurred to me all I really had to do was some cutting and pasting, along with generating a title and cover art.

“Life without a Kindle is like life without a library nearby.”
― Franz McLaren
Copy and Paste!
From the New Project link I started a new folder and followed the software’s lead.
From there 2 Kindle eBooks got posted online at Amazon, for sale!
If you haven’t already, you can do it too!
